I was verbally told if a spouse becomes deceased it would be fulfilled...not...! Income is now half, no ss from husband and I must stay in a home that costs alot to run for 1 person. I had to cancel the home I was to purchase, today as I called to see where to send my husbands death certificate. Has anyone else run across this?

The mortgage servicer can tell KYHC anything and they believe it. The same people who caused the market crash!!. You will be denied without due process as they have no appeal process. They are in the bed with the banks!!

BS PROGRAM!!! LIARS, EXTORTION, FRAUD

Accepted program in 2014 to save my home from foreclosure. They (KYHC) DO NOT advise you that your personal credit will be gone for the next 7-10 years. They (KYHC) make your monthly payments ON TIME to your mortgage co. but some how your mortgage co. considers it a late payment. So as long as KYHC makes payments, (in my case, for 1 year) the payments are still considered late?? I don't understand how a bank (Wells Embargo) considers a mortgage late if they are receiving money on time....or are they..? Along with another bank (B of A) during the same time frame experienced Class Action Lawsuits for extorting money from their customers with overdraft fees, as well as bogus accounts collecting interest on accounts that don't even exist. I closed my personal account with Wells and they (Wells Embargo) kept this account open with $ 02 in it. Here in lies the question(s). Did the Obama administration have an ongoing scam going with the banks? In conclusion, my credit today is destroyed do to this extortion program. and the banks got bailed out with my tax dollars, but I got violated....I usually like a kiss before that....

This program IS bogus. Try getting car insurance at a fair rate, try getting a JOB!!

Insurance companies base your rate on your credit. And apparently future employers ARE bias not on race, sex, sexual orientations, or age but what your credit score indicates. Employers don't take into account your actual work ethic.

The rich get richer, the poor are taking advantage of. Looking into Lawsuit against this organization as well as the banks supporting this activity....

I have had ZERO problems setting any of these programs up.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
After reading many reviews I am so confused on how anyone can misconstrue such simple programs. You write a bad review because it did not go your way, which is sad because you then wayward others from trying to apply for the programs because of "your" short comings. NONE of these programs are based on how much you personally make on income, it really is based on the equity of your home. Yes, they ask for all of your income information because if the house gets sold, refinanced or whatever the case may be, before the 5 years forgiven loan statute, when they come and ask you to pay whatever they could not get from the house sale, refinance etc, then they have a way to recover the funds without bankrupting you. So because they are making sure that, at the end of the day, when you have to pay back the debt that they make sure you can afford to, that makes them {{Redacted}}?? This is a business transaction at the end of the day. If just anyone could come in and qualify then there would be no funds open for those who still need it. One review said that they did not qualify as a single mother on temp disability. Okay, let's look at that. There are factors; how much you are behind? how much you owe? how much equity is in your home? how many times you have been in this situation? All of these are massive factors. If your net to debt ratio is REALLY bad well they see that as other people being able to place a lien on the house to regain their losses, that is a negative. If you are on temp disability, will you be able to recover and go back to work and still make the same money? Have you refinanced the house to the hilt and there is really nothing left to secure in the funds they would be releasing? How ANYONE can not see the logic in any of this is really just a matter of being mad that you could not qualify. We had applied for the Unemployment program, directly after we bought our first home my husband had lost his job. So we applied and we were approved. It took them 65 days, but during that time we were putting money into a trust that they had access to review and know that if we were not approved we had the money to get something done to the payments. Now, for some of the reviews here I saw people saying it took forever, they wanted more and more, they needed new this and new that. Yes, that is correct, it takes anywhere from 45 days to 60 days. AND THEY TELL YOU THAT! What your job is at that point is to keep in contact with your mortgage company and KYHC, and sign up, setup or apply for any of the other programs that they may have in house, while KYHC is *** away at securing their investment! Your mortgage company (and this is for the guy that said his son and his wife applied and they were going into their third month late) should have some sort of pay back plan, repayment plan. It is not the only place that the mortgage companies go, HUD is a huge contributor as well, especially for the repayment plans! Sending in small amounts as much as you can, calling them every day. ALL the responsibility of you, as the applicant. They say JUMP and you say how high! You are at their mercy and they need to cover their *** as well. It is NOT a free for all! The reinstatement program is the SAME EXACT process as all of these programs they offer, you have to have your stuff in order, keep everything you send to them in its own file. ANYTHING that changes you need to send it to them because they will get it and it will hold up the process! Send them your bank statement EVERY SINGLE month that goes by, don't wait for them to ask, just send it because if a month passes and you have heard nothing, they WILL be asking for it. Make sure ANY cash deposits you put into your bank are documented and emailed to the ASAP! You are basically taking out a loan on your house, that these people are willing to forgive after 5 years, and no one should be complaining about how long it takes or that they got denied. IF you get denied, ask why and then find out what you need to do to qualify. It is not a onetime shot, you can apply again, you may not have sent something to them that they could have factored in. And ALWAYS, ALWAYS (and I cannot stress this enough with everyone) have a secondary plan in the line, you CAN apply for any other options your mortgagor has to offer. They can process those programs as well while KYHC is going through your application. EVEN if the mortgage companies program comes through first and you start doing a repayment plan before KYHC send you a decision, pay it, each month and when you get accepted then they fund and you keep your home, if you get denied, then you are covered because you have the other program in place. IF your mortgage company works with KYHC, then they also do the repayment plan, loan modifications etc through HUD. Don't put all your eggs in one basket and then write *** reviews because you were not on top of it enough to make sure they have what they need to be fair in their responses, or you just did not qualify. I know this is long, but I hope that some of the information I have put in here helps people when they come across the bad reviews. When you first apply, you get every single thing they ask to them ASAP and each month that passes by you send them a new one each month until you get an answer. No matter what they will be asking for a new one as each month goes by.....

How is it that in this day and age of modern technology are we still faxing these places? They do that for a reason....So that they can lose paperwork, essentially denying you, and boom!

Why don't these assistance programs have Apps?

This would essentially cut the percentage of lost documents way down.Look at loan mods and other so-called programs; they all use old technology... FAXIt's a big scam for big banks and KYHC is in on it, too.

Stephanie O Kcx

Well when you submit the same paperwork 4 times and they still say they didn’t get it, that’s some type of office issue on their side. When they ask for pay stubs from a year ago it’s a little excessive, they already have our tax returns.

When they ask for a letter from your employer but you explain you work for the state not an employer and they say it’s not in policy to submit letters to people. There’s nothing we can do and they didn’t advise up front that you would need these documents, so here you are two months in submitting paperwork every week and get denied over things that don’t even make since. Why do you need pay stubs from a year ago when you have my tax return???

A letter from my ex asking if child support is going to continue? Come on, no bank ask for such things.

How about when they asking for a letter of explanation from addresses where you were living ..18 years ago .. sounds kinda stupid..

Guest

Agreed. The only thing I don't like is that the Tform authorizes them to review tax returns for the last 4 years?

I think that's a little much up front. Yes, with some they may need to, but I don't have a warm and fuzzy about that request.

Guest

I agree with you completely. Had no problems with the UMA.

program, and was surprised to see all these complaints. But I guess those that run into problems are more likely to complain and share it on here.

Cooperated fully. Met all the deadlines. Faxed. & mailed endless documents Cindy said my file was senseless after meeting all her requirements The program helps the needy. Who are they?? I’m going to appeal as I met the original requirements & made extra money doing Airbnb. But doubt they considered that. Very shocking review & decision of negativity

A great program for those needing short-term help

Back in 2014, I was laid-off abruptly. Didn't see it coming. I had heard of Keep Your Home California, but it sounded fishy, eventually I applied. Yes, it's a government bureaucracy, and the process is long and burdensome, but it's 'free' money at a time I needed it. After about 3 months of mostly needless red tape, they started paying my mortgage for me. It was great! After a few months, I went back to work and I took up my mortgage payments again. 3 years later, they released the lien on my home. 5 stars! I will never complain about someone paying my mortgage for me. (and thank you taxpayers, the assistance was needed and appreciated)

I was skeptical to try but when I had used all resources called them and immediately the Representative listened to my case got all documentation and few months later I got letter that I qualified for principal reduction.I thought was fake until I saw my first statement which then was VERY greatfull and appreciative of all who helped me at keep your home California Thank you....

Kyhc did not help at all Yes they paid my lender $15,900.00. But a big nightmare after that. 1. My monthly payment is the same as before and with my fixed income now i am slowly going to lose my house. 2. My loan was underwater but my principal stayed the same. They did not help me reduce my principal at all. 3. I was not aware of the junior lien but they posted $100,000 cash out lien on my loan making my loan at $252,000.00. My house is only worth $170,000 at best. 4. I would probably would have been better off working with my mortgage co

TWO DIFFERENT PROGRAMS 1 PAYS YOUR PAYMENTS WHILE ON UNEMPLOYMENT 2 LOWERS YOUR MORTGAGE BALANCE AND RECASTS YOUR LOAN TO A LOWER PAYMENT YOU CAN NOT DO BOTH PROGRAMS AT ONCE..........NOW THE PROGRAM IS CLOSED.......

False Claim

I was behind on my house payment and someone referred me to Keep Your Home California. I could have contacted the lender myself to negotiate the problem. After an initial intake with KYHC, I was told that I was eligible for a conditional grand that will allow me to cut with my payments. During three months, I submitted paperwork for processing. Each month, KYHC asked me for the same documents over and over. During the last phone call, I was told that a decision will be made within 30 days. I waited for that 30-days and that decision in question never came. Three days later after the days, I called KYHC to inquire about the decision, I was told that a letter was mailed to me. The Representative had refused to disclose the final decision. I know it was a lie because all forms of communications or submissions of documents were done electronically. At the end, it was too late for me to get an extension with lender to fight for my house. I ended up homeless with three children. If I didn't put my faith on KYHC, I would have found a mean to save my home.

They changed the repayment rules on me

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I applied for KYHC Mortgage reinstatement March 2015, under the "old" forgiveness rules of 3 years. The award was issued April, after the "new" 5 years forgiveness rules went into effect. I was unaware of these new rules. I do not have a copy of my note and would not have noticed if it said 5 instead of 3 as I had a previous award for unemployment that was 3 years and has already been reconveyed. I expected my reconveyance to come last month, but it didn't. i am being told its a 5 year commitment. Is this legal? Can the accept an application under one set of rules and then award on more stringent ones? I have already received an offer on my house and cannot afford to wait another 2 years, but this means I will lose 30,000 in what I thought was going to be profit. I am pretty pissed. I need to sell my house, and if I have to pay KYHC back in order to close escrow, do I have any recourse to try to get that $$ back based on having applied under the old rules? HELP

Totally disappointed in KYHC

I applied for some assistance from KYHC but was turned down. I submitted everything I was asked for but their reason was that I didn't meet the hardship criteria. I am 76 and a widow, am having trouble meeting my bills, the heater in my house burned up 2 years ago so I have no heat, my washer and dryer are both broken so I have to carry my laundry to the laundromat every week and I was out of work for four months with a broken hip. How much more hardship do you want? I have been turned down every place where I applied for a refinance for my house. I have lived here since 1930 and do not want to sell it and move to a strange place.

No need to be rude. How do you know that she's not a time traveler? Maybe her parents owned the home first and a second was taken out years back?

Are you also a time traveler? Lived in the home since 1930 and you are 76?

Math doesn't really work. Sorry for your hardship, but they were pretty clear on the programs available and the criteria for each.

Be aware be warned if applying for principle reduction!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I ran into financial difficulty due to having cancer and enormous medical bills I had to choose between paying my house payment and buying food I heard about this program Keep Your Home California so I called up to apply they immediately said I would probably qualify for the principal reduction program. I asked them what this program was and they explained that they would pay portion of my mortgage off and then a lien would be put on my property for the amount they paid off. And then after 30 years the balance would be forgiven. So in good faith I went through and gave them all my financial information and my dog's left ear literally everything I asked for everything under the Sun but I got everything to them. And I was approved. And then today I get the documents that you have to sign which is a promissory note and in there is a application to transfer my deed to Keep Your Home California. And when I read through the legal document and the promissory note it literally tells me that I have to sign my deed over to them which means I no longer own my house they do for $40,000 my house is worth over $300,000. And that I cannot make any changes to my home and I will be in default if something happens to my house like let's say the air conditioner breaks and I don't have the money to fix it right away well then I would have reduce the value of my home and I will be in default of my promissory note and in that case then they can make the full amount due and payable on that date. I am just so upset I thought this program was meant to help me but literally they'll take over the ownership of my home and the only rights I will have is the rights of what a renter would have. But I would still owe my mortgage to the mortgage lender. So it's more or less like I'm signing my house over to them for a tenth of what it's worth and yet I will have still be obligated to pay the mortgage. The whole thing is ridiculous and the fact that they didn't explain this to me in the first place that they just kind of slipped it in there at the end of wanting me to sign this paper signing over my house to them I am mortified I could have done something to change my situation I could have sold my house and got out from under the financial nightmare I'm in but I stuck with the eight weeks that it's taken for them to get to this point and they lied to me so now I am completely screwed. Just know if you're going to get the principal reduction that you have to sign your deed over to them and you will no longer own your home Keep Your Home California will

Why in the world did you give them all those stars?

My son and his wife applied last month and were turned down because he and his wife are not bringing in enough money to cover even the reduced mortgage. He's now two months behind on his mortgage and working on being three months behind.

Now they can't even sell their home because they are in default. How are they saying they help people when in fact they are not helping real people with real financial problems and are trying to save their home. One of his children has a disability, and now they are looking at being homeless. They have nowhere to go, and really needed this financial help!

I'm just shaking my head.

I see the commercials that show people not having a job and, as they claim, and were approved. I can't help him, I'm struggling myself and live in my fifth wheel travel trailer.

Horrible Service: Carrie in Processing is a Nightmare

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They keep calling me and asking for the EXACT SAME PAPERWORK that I already sent, and sometimes, TWICE. I have been waiting for months for help. I'll wait 3 weeks and hear nothing, and then I'll be at my first job on my 18 hour work day, receiving a voice mail from Carrie about some other piece of paperwork, or something already sent. She is never kind about it, either, making threats such as, "We need it TODAY or we are closing your file." What ever happened to a 24 hour window? I'm at WORK, as I am trying to keep my head above water. I am reaching out for help, and getting nothing in return. She refuses to give a direct line, too, so I sit on hold EVERY SINGLE TIME, with 22 minutes being my minimum and 46 minutes being the longest I waited, just to get through to someone who will connect me with her. I have to complete paperwork as part of my 3 jobs, and if I treated people this way, I'd be fired. I certainly hope that they help me, because they have put me through absolute *** thus far. HORRIBLE.

Sent us a contract to owe them over 33 thousand dollars

this seems like a real estate grab. they sent us a deed of trust with mixed facts. for giving us a couple mortgage payments, they will either (a) forgive it in 5 years or (b) only forgive 30% in five years and the whole amount (which is going to be $3200) in 30 years with owing them an additional $33,000 by that time. If we contest them as a scam after we sign it, we will be liable for all attorneys fees whether the outcome of the court case is for them or you. I never thought our own government would scam us after all others have attempted to. This is sad. The deed also forbids you from selling the property without their consent, even if the sale will satisfy their deed in full. They are essentially making you a prisoner with no consideration for disaster or hard economic times. If you fail to obey, they will not only take the property and place it for sale with or without the bank, but still hold you liable. This legal document appears to be a scam from the state of California. they do this contract because those who need help will never be able to afford any legal assistance from anyone as "fair and reasonable" legal fees in California can range to a $100 an hour and those lawyers will charge a minimum of 1 hour every time they pick up your case and are can legally only work 10 minutes of that hour. They can do this many days on end. The contract even seems to suggest they can sell the property out from under your lender for the recovered amount and leave you in debt for the remaining amount. This is a very sketch deed of trust. If you can find free legal advice for this, take it. In addition, we kept asking them about tax liability. They constantly replied, we don't know as we are not tax people. Then the document they send says you can be liable for much tax depending on the amount. the program is speaking with two tongues. Early on, the people assisting us were nice and friendly, when we got to the later stages, the friendliness suddenly dropped. I think we know why, the conscience of the people taking calls were under stress.

Tedious But A Blessing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
First I want to say heart goes out to those who felt the process was a waste of time or ultimately was denied. I applied 3x. The first time I went through the process of constantly sending the requested forms and when there was a month of silence and not getting a response, I called to get an update to discover although I was approved, my mortgage company turned down participation. I was livid! I was angry KYHC didn’t notify me and especially mad at my mortgage company. (My mortgage or whatever was sold to a different company within the same month, so maybe that had something to do with the outcome. I started the process over under my new mortgage company, but felt the KYHC rep was so rude and short that I ended ended the process by no longer complying with their request for documents. 3rd time, (I was desperate and persistent) I contacted them once more to initiate the process again. Well 3rd time was the charm, because I was approved and monies funded. :-)

The paperwork is overwhelming AND they ask for documents that don't even exist. I finally went to a lawyer and to Freddie Mac -- in addition to my loan banker -- and they confirmed that this certain document does not exist but KYHC still disqualified me for not producing this phantom document!!!
